David Gandy

David Gandy is an international supermodel, designer, columnist and charity ambassador.

He has been at the forefront of the male modelling industry since winning a modelling competition on ITV’s This Morning in 2001. Over his career that has spanned nearly two decades he has worked with the top names in the industry including Dolce & Gabbana, Hugo Boss and GQ. He has also fronted and designed collections of his own including a hugely popular underwear, swimwear and loungewear line with Marks & Spencer and an aerodrome inspired collaboration with Aspinal of London  in 2018.

David cemented his position as one of the most recognisable faces in fashion with his iconic partnership with Dolce & Gabbana. Following becoming the brand’s muse in 2006, he has starred annually in their apparel campaigns and as the face of their Light Blue  fragrance. This has seen David feature on a 50ft billboard in Times Square, gain over 11 million internet hits and appear in the brands first Light Blue  winter campaign shot by Mario Testino in 2016.  The fashion house has also released a coffee table book focussed solely on Gandy, celebrating his work and relationship with the brand.

His modelling credentials include a wealth of experience with the best names in fashion. David has worked with Naomi Campbell for Fashion For Relief  and other supermodels including Gisele, Eva Herzigova and Bianca Balti and actress, Scarlett Johansson. Moreover, David was the only male model to represent his country and walk alongside supermodel’s Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell as part of the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. In the same year he featured on 16 magazine covers and 18 fashion editorials. Prior to this, he made history becoming the first and only male model nominated for the BFC’s Model of the Year  award.

David has also undertaken several ambassadorial roles for a range of well respected brands. These have included, becoming official ambassador for London Collections: Men  alongside Tinie Tempah and Dermot O’Leary and being brand ambassador for Wellman Vitamins and Supplements, produced by Vitabiotics.

He has also undertaken various charitable roles including being appointed fashion ambassador for Comic Relief  in 2013 and launching the Blue Steel Appeal, a series of events and initiatives helping to fundraise through fashion. He is an avid supporter and the first ever charity ambassador for Battersea Cats and Dogs Home where he continues to be an ambassador today.

David has not shied away from undertaking large projects of his own, from launching his Men’s Style Guide app named David Gandy Fitness and Training  to acquiring cult small shoe label, David Preston, acting as chairman and ambassador for the brand. Additionally, his David Gandy for Autograph  collection was extremely popular with the 8-piece swimwear line launched in 2015 becoming the brand’s fasted-ever selling menswear collection as one pair of trunks sold every minute. In 2018, David unveiled his tailoring collection for M&S. For the first time ever, David transcended his role as Marks & Spencer’s  tailoring ambassador to design his very own capsule collection of suits and outerwear.

David has collaborated with Aspinal of London  on The Aerodrome Collaboration,  a design collaboration capsule that takes inspiration from the skies. The collection combines David’s well-known sense of style with Aspinal’s trademark craftsmanship across the 18 pieces of men’s accessories and travel kit. In December 2018, David teamed up with Mango Men  for their Icon of Style campaign and most recently in 2019 worked with Massimo Dutti as part of the brands personal tailoring story.

David’s interests by no means stop at fashion. Passionate about cars, David’s infatuation with all things automotive is at the heart of his GQ column ‘David Gandy Drives’  which he has written since 2011, and led to him being invited to participate in the 2013 Italian open-road endurance race, Mille Miglia, with fellow model Yasmin le Bon. In the same year, he appeared alongside Jodie Kidd and Quentin Wilson on Channel 5’s The Classic Car Show  comparing a £1million classic Mercedes against its modern counterpart at London Fashion Week. Then, in 2015 he joined the iRace Pro Team of Vector Martini Racing in 2015. Under the instruction of Vector professionals, David trained as a powerboat racing pilot and undertook a World Endurance Record as part of the Vector four-man crew.

David became a father to Matilda in 2018 and is based in Fulham.
