Marcus Wareing's brand new 10-part series for BBC Two
A brand new 10-part series for BBC Two, Marcus Wareing’s Tales From A Kitchen Garden (10×30), has been commissioned by BBC Daytime & Early Peak and BBC England. The programme follows Marcus – chef extraordinaire and successful restaurateur – as he follows his dream of living, and cooking, in the English countryside. The series will see Marcus travel across the country visiting the very best of British producers, farmers and gardeners – inspiring him as he grows his fledgling market garden.Having grown up in Lancashire, the son of a fruit and veg merchant, Marcus is returning to his rural roots. After making his name in some of Britain’s top restaurants – cooking food and inventing new recipes – Marcus is finally living his dream of spending more time in the countryside and has recently acquired a small holding in East Sussex. Throughout the series there will be lessons and top tips about rearing livestock as diverse as pigs, chickens, cows, sheep and even bees. There’ll also be advice on planting orchards and the best way to grow vegetables – inspiring Marcus, and viewers at home, to get out there and start planting. The series will air in 2022.
Marcus Wareing says: “I am hugely excited to be given this opportunity from the BBC and to be working with Plimsoll. Having started to develop my Kitchen Garden in East Sussex I am keen to learn from the experts, and I can’t wait to explore many different parts of the UK and uncover the absolute best of British producers, farmers and gardeners. I am hoping to learn new skills and bring new ideas back to my own garden as I strive to improve my own offering. Of course cooking remains my passion so I am looking forward to trying some of these ingredients, along with a few of my own, and sharing the recipes with you.”
